Justin Tanner joined Verizon's State & Local Government Affairs team as a Director in 2017. He is responsible for developing and implementing legislative strategy, tactics, and content in support of Verizon's policy interests at the municipal, county, and state government levels in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. He is also responsible for managing Verizon's external stakeholder relationships and implementing the company's local engagement efforts in the Southeast.
Before joining Verizon, Justin acquired a broad range of public policy, regulatory, and external affairs experience as Executive Director of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, Inc., a senior White House appointee in the Obama Administration (Associate Director, United States Department of Commerce/Senior Advisor, United States Small Business Administration), and a mayoral appointee in the Reed Administration with the City of Atlanta (Intergovernmental Affairs/Communications). He also served as Director of New Media on Mayor Kasim Reed's 2009 citywide campaign and Inaugural Planning Committee.
Justin received a bachelor of business administration degree from Howard University and a doctor of jurisprudence degree from Vanderbilt Law School. He and his wife, Christina, currently live in Atlanta.
